Unit 8 When is your birthday?
Section B
英语组   马静
Teaching aims:
    1. Language goals:
        a. Revise the months and dates.
        b. Teach the names of some activities.
    2. Ability goals:
        Know how to arrange their time.
    3. Emotion goals:
       To be the master of time.
Teaching aids: Computer, a tape recorder
Teaching steps:
1.Warming-up and revision:
    a. Introduce myself to the students and get to know the students, greet each other. The students may ask me any question they want to know about me.
   Where are you from? What’s your name? What colour do I like? What’s my favorite …? “ How old are you?” or “When is your birthday?” etc.
    b. Then I will ask them, “ When is your birthday?” “When is your mother’s/father’s birthday?” to revise the knowledge they have learned.
    (Here I will ask the students what they should do on their birthday. I want them to say “Thank you, my dear mother.” on their birthday.)
    c. As we all know, there are 12 months in a year. Can you put them into the right order? Ask a student to come to the front to put them into the right order.
    d. Show them some pictures about different festivals. Ask them the dates.
2.presentation:
    In different seasons we do different activities. What do you often do on New Year’s Day? We have a party. Maybe in spring, the teacher can take you to the park, the mountain or some other places. That is, we can go on a school trip.
3.Groupwork:
    Hand out some papers. On it there are some activities with the dates in our school. The students discuss in groups: talk about the dates, learn some new activities, and arrange the time in their school if they also like it. Each of the groups should ask one student to write sth. down on the paper. And one of them should report in front of the class.
4.Pairwork:
    If you have a five-day holiday, and you have no homework to do. What do you want to do then?
    Ask the students to write their calendar and share their ideas in pairs. 5.Listening practice:
    Listen and try to fill in the blanks. Listen to the material twice. And check up the answers.
6.Game:
    Now let’s play a game
    --“When is your birthday?”
    When: Some dates
    Is: Some activities
    Your: Famous people’s birthday( match the person and his birthday)
    Birthday: Finish a short passage.
7. Homework:
    1.Make a notebook in English. You can write down your important activities in English from today on.
    2. Search the Internet www.baidu.com to find more information about the origin of the months.

    2.Do you have a New Year’s Party? When is it? If you don’t have the activity, but you like it, you can write down your time in the last column. Do the practice like this:

A: Do you have a Party?                                   A: Do you have a Chinese Contest?
B: Yes, we do.                                                    B: No, we don’t.
A: When is it?                         or                        A: Do you like it?
B: It’s December 31/                                        B: Yes. I think it’s October 8.
